Instruction & Public Speaking

As a librarian and supervisor in public libraries:

  • Design and teach computer training classes for adults in basic computer use, the Internet, email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Design and teach technology classes on using you iPad, Kindle Fire, and Facebook
  • Teach educational classes on library resources and digital collections
  • Provide library tours to individuals and small groups
  • Presentations to community groups on library special events and resources
  • Lead library planning committees
  • Lead staff and business meetings
  • Facilitate staff planning and discussion groups

In the academic library setting:

  • Designed and taught dozens of subject specific classes and library workshops for graduate and undergraduate students
  • Presented at student orientations and faculty meetings
  • Member of the library teams that designed and implemented library instruction classes and online tutorials for students
